Daily Distance Learning for April 9th

Language Arts –
Review letter Ww – make a list of as many Ww words as you can think of.  How many can you come up with? 
If you don’t already have a Child’s Dictionary, I would suggest you get one.  I have a Curious George one at school that we use to find words that start with certain letters.  Here are few suggestions:

Math -
Go outside and collect some things from nature (sticks, leaves, rocks, etc.)
Use those things to make an AB, ABC, ABB, and AABB pattern.
OR
Participate in the FPD Chalk Your Walk Challenge.  Students and their families are invited to spread some joyful reminders about God’s grace and love by decorating their sidewalk or driveway with a Bible verse, a blessing, a prayer, or simply a beautiful picture that represents Easter.  If you don’t have a sidewalk or don’t have sidewalk chalk, no worries!  Draw a picture and share that as well.  You can email a photo of your work to me or beth.burnsed@fpdmacon.org

Language Arts –
Letter Ww
Watch Jack Hartmann Letter Ww song
and ABC Mouse Ww song
Create a picture of something that begins with Ww.  Challenge your child to show something that relates to a season (I walk on the leaves in fall.       I eat watermelon in summer.  I play in the water in summer.)  Write your child’s sentence on the paper, and have him write the letter W on his paper.

Math -
Number Recognition and Ordering:
Using the flashcards from yesterday, have your child put them in order 1-10. 
Just Before and Just After Snowflakes
To revisit just before and just after numerical sequence concepts, mix up Number Cards 1–10 and have your child order them on the floor, left to right. Have him close his eyes while you hide a small drawing of a snowflake under a card. After they open their eyes, give clues about the snowflake’s location: It’s just before 4, or It’s just after 7. Then ask, Where’s the snowflake? Ask your child to identify the number card and find the snowflake. Repeat, varying the clues.

Can you name the 4 seasons?
Listen and sing along to Jack Hartman’s Song about the seasons:
Which season starts with Ww?  “Winter” Can you hear the /w/ sound at the beginning of winter?
Weather also starts with Ww.
Listen and sing along to the Singing Walrus’s Weather Song for Kids
Discuss the difference between the seasons and weather.  Can you have a sunny day in winter?  Can you have a rainy day in summer?
Can your child tell you if the following words are a season or a type of weather?
SUMMER           RAINY                 FALL                    WINTER
SNOWY               WINDY                SPRING               SUNNY

Math -
Number Recognition and Writing
Make number flash cards – use index cards or paper to make number flash cards.  Have your child write numbers 0-10 (one number on each flash card).  When they are finished mix them up and see if he can put the numbers in order.  Keep these – we will use them again tomorrow.

 Bible –
Countdown to Easter beginning with Palm Sunday – read Luke 19:28-40
Make (or find something to pretend with) a palm branch and wave it like the people did when Jesus entered Jerusalem.  Shout, “Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!”
Print and color (or draw your own) picture of the children waving palm branches.

Co-Bingo Game

Parents,

Regarding our Co-Bingo Game this week, our usual schedule is Monday-Computer, Tuesday-Library, Wednesday-Music and Friday-Art. 

If you don't get to everything on each day, its alright to catch up on the weekends to be ready for the next week.  Practicing these skills will help your child continue to grow and progress with development following our academic pacing plan.

Palm Sunday



   Today is the beginning of Holy Week with the celebration of Palm Sunday and next week our focus will be on the Easter story.  I've attached some resources to help you review the Easter
